What is a VPN Chrome extension?

As you probably know, a VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a solution that encrypts the Internet traffic between your computer and a VPN server. Thus, your browsing data is secured, and your public IP address is hidden behind the VPN server. It is important to underline that a VPN app encrypts ALL your Internet traffic, for ALL applications, not only for your web browser.

Then, what is a VPN Chrome extension? Well, truth to be told, there is no such thing as a VPN web browser extension. For the simple reason that browsers can not set up VPN connections, only proxy connections. Proxies work similarly with VPNs, but they are less secure, and they can be configured application-based (you may set up a specific app to use a proxy and let others un-proxified).

To sum up, the extensions you may find in Google Web Store and that call themselves “VPN” are not using, in fact, VPN technology, but a proxy. Why do they use the VPN term? Probably because not many users know the differences between VPN and proxy, plus both can be used to hide your IP address. It’s only marketing

Free VPN for Chrome extensions

I have tested several Google Chrome extensions advertised as VPN, and that show up to the top of the search results. Read my findings below.

Hotspot Shield VPN Free Proxy

Hotspot Shield Chrome extension offers an elegant browser extension with a lot of extra, security and privacy-related options, like an ad blocker, tracker blocker, and cookies blocker. The default server selection is “Optimal,” but you may switch to manual and pick one of the following countries: Canada, Chile, Sweden, Netherlands, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Russia, India, Germany, and Singapore.

The extension is very popular and used in millions of Google Chrome browsers, but don’t install it just yet. You should first be aware that AnchorFree, the company that runs Hotspot Shield, was recently accused of snooping on its users and selling data to an advertising company. True or not, you should use it cautiously.

Betternet Unlimited Free VPN Proxy

Betternet offers a basic, but friendly, user interface with no extra options besides connecting/disconnect and select from the two available server locations: the United States and the United Kingdom. It works smoothly and it can be activated with a single click. It may be a good free VPN for Chrome. However, the latest news shows that Betternet is not safe.

Hola – Unlimited Free VPN

Another very popular VPN extension (10+ million users) is Hola. It seems to be designed for unblocking certain websites (like Netflix) and not for general browsing. To be honest, I find the usage a little bit complicated and confusing. Too many messages and options. Plus, I see the pages that load from time to time quite annoying.

The same concerns as for Hotspot Shield: before installing the browser extension you should read the info regarding the rumors that Hola sold users’ bandwidth.

TouchVPN – Free Proxy to Unblock any sites

TouchVPN (a project associated with AnchorFree/Hotspot Shield) states that it uses proxy, not VPN. Thumb up!

The extension combines the site unblocking with hiding the IP address in a more straightforward interface than Hola. The available locations/servers are Canada, France, United States, Chile, Sweden, Netherlands, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Russia, India, Germany, United Kindom, Singapore.

ibVPN – Best VPN & Proxy

ibVPN Chrome extension is an alternative to the more popular free VPN for Chrome extensions listed above. ibVPN has recently launched the so-called Guest Mode that allows you to enter without signup and connect to servers located in the United States, Netherlands, Germany, and Singapore.

A nice feature (also available in the free version) is the Bypass List (Whitelist) that allows you to select sites that are not using the proxies even if the ibVPN extension is activated. Also, it offers WebRTC leak protection. The extension automatically disconnects every 10 minutes, and manual re-connection is needed.

Which free VPN extensions for Chrome should you use?

It depends on what you need.

If you are concerned about your private data, I recommend using ibVPN.

If you need to access blocked sites (unblock Netflix or other online streaming channels), then you may try HotspotShield or Hola. Make sure you activate the VPN extensions only on the web browser you are using for unblocking the website, and you are not using the browser at the same time for accessing your PayPal account or performing any online shopping.

If you need to change your IP to multiple locations install HotspotShield, TouchVPN or subscribe to the premium ibVPN service (it offers 150+ locations).

What do you think?

If you are not willing or you don’t have sufficient rights to install software on the computer you use for browsing there are only 3 options you can use to hide your IP address and browse anonymously. Learn how to hide your IP address without installing any software.

1. Web Proxies

A web proxy is basically a website that acts as an intermediate between you and the site you visit. You enter the address/URL of the site you want to visit in a text box, press the Submit/Go button and then the proxy asks for the site/page to the webserver where the site/page is located. This way the site you visit is not able to log your real IP address, but the IP of the proxy.

This method is very useful to unblock sites like MySpace, Facebook, Orkut, etc., in schools or at work where such sites are filtered.

There are plenty of proxies you can use. Just google “free web proxy“, “unblock myspace“, “unblock facebook“, etc. and you’ll get what you need.

2. Proxies

The second solution involves some manual configuration. You need to set up your browser to use a certain proxy. The configuration is not difficult. Here is how to do it for Firefox, IE, Chrome, and Safari:

Firefox 3.0: How To Manually Hide Your IP

How To Manually Hide Your IP Using Internet Explorer 8

How To Hide Your IP While Browsing Using Google Chrome

How To Manually Mask Your IP Using Safari 3.x

Now, you need a proxy. There are a lot of sites that list fresh proxies, but finding a good one is a difficult task. Here are several sites where you can start looking:

SamAir.ru

Proxy4free.com

ProxyList.net

3. VPN Services with PPTP protocol

The third option is to look for VPN services that use PPTP protocol, such that they do not require any software installation, just some Windows configuration (you may not have sufficient administrative rights to be able to do this). Here is how to configure Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Some VPN services that use the PPTP protocol are:

HideMyAss

ibVPN

PureVPN

Do you want to access sites that are restricted to Danish users? If so, you need to change your IP address to a Danish one. Unfortunately, the servers located in Denmark are rather expensive.

Thus, you don’t have many alternatives as if you were looking for a US, UK or French IP. This post will present several options that will allow you to bypass the restrictions imposed by some Danish websites.

What is a Danish IP address?

A Danish IP address is an IP that is assigned to an ISP or hosting provider that provides Internet services in Denmark. The most common Danish IPs have the following format:

TDC A/S – from 2.104.0.0 to 2.111.255.255

Telenor A/S – from 2.128.0.0 to 2.131.255.255

Telenor A/S – from 77.212.0.0 to 77.215.255.255

TDC A/S – from 80.160.0.0 to 80.163.255.255

TDC A/S – from 83.88.0.0 to 83.95.255.255

You may find more info regarding the Danish IP blocks by checking this post.

3 Ways to get a Danish IP address

1. Use web proxies

Web proxies are simple to use as you don’t have to install anything on your computer or device. Just visit the proxy, type in the desired URL and press the Go or Submit button. Then, the site will be loaded from the IP of the proxy server, not from your own IP address. The major problem of web proxies is the speed that is quite low and they are quite loaded.

In order to find such web proxies you may Google on “danish web proxy” and you will surely find what you need. Or you may try one from the following list.

Must read: Risks of using a proxy site.

2. Manually change your IP using paid or open proxies

Another acceptable option is to manually setup a proxy on your browser. You need to pay attention as a proxy is not the same thing as a web proxy. They work a little bit different.

Thus, go to sites that list such proxies (e.g. XRoxy.com), find a proxy from Denmark and then change your browser’s settings to use that proxy. Take for example 83.91.86.26:9100 and configure your browser to use it when you connect to the internet.

If you don’t know how to manually change your IP you should check these posts:

3. Use a VPN service

The most reliable and stable option to get a Danish IP address is to subscribe to a VPN service. There are several such services that offer connections to servers located in Denmark. Plus, VPN services offer great browsing speed and high level of anonymity. My recommendation is to go for ExpressVPN, HideMyAss, ibVPN, NordVPN, IPVanish or PureVPN. Their level of service is great and the price is affordable.

Are you not happy with the VPN speed? Learn about the things that may impact your VPN connection.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are several options when you need to change your IP address to a Danish one. You should probably choose VPNs, but you may also try web proxies or open proxies.

This post explains how to set up a proxy on Microsoft Edge in Windows 10. Moreover, it shows what advantages and disadvantages of this approach are.

Why set up a proxy on Microsoft Edge?

Naturally, for changing or hiding your visible IP address. By using a proxy for a browser, all the Internet traffic is redirected through the proxy server. Thus, the destination site sees the IP of the proxy server and not the original IP from your computer. To sum up, it hides your visible IP.

Where to find proxies?

There are several places you may look for proxies. The handiest is the open proxies that you may find by a quick Google search on open proxies or by looking at specialized sites like Xroxy.com. The main disadvantage of the open proxies is related to their speed, but their security and privacy may also concern you. As they are open, you never know who is running the proxy server and what logs are kept. My advice is to never (I mean NEVER) use personal info (credit cards info, passwords, etc.) while connected to an open proxy. It is for your safety.

You may also find paid proxies. They are more secure and more trustworthy. There many such providers, but the one I prefer is ibVPN, a complete VPN, proxy and SmartDNS provider.

How to set up a proxy on Microsoft Edge in 7 easy steps

The following steps show how to configure proxy settings for Microsoft Edge.

Open the Microsoft Edge browser.

Next, click on “…” option on the upright side of the browser

Click on Settings and scroll down to View advanced settings. Click on it.

Look for Open proxy settings.

A window will be open in order to be able to change the proxy settings. Search for Manual proxy setup, turn the option Use a proxy ON and enter the proxy server details: Address – proxy IP or hostname, Port – proxy communication channel. Click Save.

Go to the Edge browser. If the proxy server you set up requires authentication, then a window will be prompted to type the username and password.

Check your IP address on XMyIP.com. You should see your new visible IP address. You are done with setup proxy Microsoft Edge.

Is the proxy only for the Edge browser?

Since Edge is part of the Windows 10 operating system, when a proxy is set up for the browser it is also set up for all other Windows apps that can use proxies. For example, the same proxy is used for all browsers you have installed on your system. Also, apps that use the Windows proxy settings like Yahoo Messenger will use the same proxy as well.

It can be regarded as an advantage as it behaves somehow like a VPN and redirects most of the Internet through the proxy. But, it may also be misleading as the user does not know exactly what apps are proxified and which are not.

For some users, it may be an inconvenience. In this case, I recommend using Google Chrome and setting up the proxy there. In this case, the proxy will be used only by Chrome.

An exciting feature that I have discovered while testing the proxies: if you have a Chrome browser open and you set up a proxy for Edge, Chrome will not use the proxy. But if you open a new Chrome window, then the proxy settings will be applied. Good to know!

An alternative to manually set up a proxy on Microsoft Edge

Recently, Microsoft has completely rebuilt the Edge browser using Chromium technology. The side effect was that Chrome browser extensions are now working on Edge as well. As there are plenty of proxy browser extensions for Chrome, you may choose to also use them on Edge. Here is a guide on how to install Chrome proxy/VPN extensions on Microsoft Edge.

Conclusion

It is easy to set up a proxy on Microsoft Edge, but you may be aware that other apps also use the proxy. Enjoy!

China is blocking access to external sites quite often. Since some clever users have figured out to use a VPN to overcome the issue, the Chinese government also began to block some VPN implementations (PPTP and L2TP based VPN). Let’s take a simple look at how this kind of Internet censorship can be established.

Starting from the IP address

This actually is a simple explanation geared toward those who want a better understanding of how things work. So let’s say you are based in China. You know that whatever device you are plugging into the internet has a unique IP address attached to it. Every communication you make on the internet is “tagged” with this IP address. On the other side, any server or peer you are talking to on the internet also has an IP address. Just think of it as your postal address so that the factor knows which route to send your letter through.

Censorship directly on your computer

The first censorship can be done on your computer. Let’s say for example that you are working within an organization that has some policies with regard to using the internet (you are probably facing it: major sites like Facebook and Youtube are not allowed to be browsed from your company’s network).

In fact, some companies set some specific proxy configuration on your browser and do not allow you to change it. In fact, the IT administrator is forcing you to go through a proxy server by setting it on your browser. If you are falling into that specific scenario, you can be sure that the IT administrator has set up other ways to block you from accessing those websites. In fact, you usually are not allowed to change any settings on your browser. The only solution that comes to my mind for overcoming that kind of Internet censorship is to use some web-based proxy servers. Although it’s not really convenient (most web proxies serve you a lot of ads), at least you can end up accessing some blocked websites.

Why does this solution work most of the time?

It works since more often than not when blocking websites, IT administrators limit it on a per-destination basis: which means that they centrally maintain a list of websites that their users are not allowed to browse instead of a deny-all and only authorize approved website policy. This actually means that there is a very high probability that the web proxy that you’ll be using won’t be included in the list of websites that you are not allowed to browse.

In part 1 of this series about “simplified view of internet censorship”, we discussed how this censorship can be performed on your corporate computer. Now let’s go a bit higher on the connection path and discuss what can be done on the corporate firewall or proxy side of things.

Internet censorship with firewalls

Most of the times, companies have one or two internet connections: this connection being a limited resource, IT administrators tend to limit their usage. The censorship at this stage can take the form of bandwidth limitation (which is still fine since you can still browse most websites although it can be slow), or denial of access to some websites. This is usually done on the firewall side of the company’s router. Simply side, the filtering is done at the router that is acting as a gateway to the internet.

The filtering can be implemented via different solutions:

– either by checking against regular expressions (or regex) the URL of the destination website the user is trying to see. It is then common that IT administrators limit any file download that has the .mp3 extension (or .torrent, .mp4, …)

– or filtering by protocols and ports: this is what is actually done when the IT administrator denies applications like peer-to-peer since those applications actually need to initiate communication via a specified port. This can be done on the corporate side or at the ISP side

– or by using some publicly maintained database of “blacklisted sites”. Most proxy servers nowadays can use those public databases of blacklisted sites

– or by limiting by the originating IP address: as I told earlier, the IT administrator has a clear map of the IP address-computer database. Because of that, they can say that for your particular IP address, some websites are not allowed to be reached. The only solution for you, for such a case, is to use another computer that has eventually less restriction …

Those are simple explanations on what can be done at the corporate or ISP side when it comes to “Internet censorship”.

How this censorship can be done at the country-level side

We all have heard countries who ban access to different services: from China to some countries during the “Printemps Arabe” where major revolutions happened in most of the Arabic countries. It all started with blocking access to major user-generated-content platforms (Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, …). In fact, governments can do so by imposing some kind of control on all international internet gateways in their countries – every internet going through those gateways, they can filter out every traffic based on website address, IP address, protocols, type of content, …

In fact, the number of internet gateway for one country is limited, the main challenge for an entity who wants to filter is to take control (or at least be able to monitor) those gateways. Internet technology has it that everything is following standards and protocols, though easing the filtering process. While some protocols can use different ports randomly, the main challenge for the censor is to filter the initiating connection.

So how does it work from your user point of view: initially, you want to use the regular applications (Skype, instant messaging, …) or go to regular websites (online mail like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, …) or social media platforms (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, …) then try to use them as you normally do. You either see an error message stating that the access to the site has been blocked (well, at least if they are kind enough to inform you), or you see nothing happening on your computer …

So, what are the countries that restrict Internet access?

On the first search I have found out that there are a lot of countries that have an internet censorship policy: Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, Iran, India,Korea, Morocco, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Sudan, Thailand, Turkey, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.

Then, I found a Censorship World Map on www.wikipedia.org. Take a look:

You find out that countries like the US, Canada, Australia also have a censorship policy. It this surprising? What do you think? Is this a good thing?

No one-size-fits-all solution

While there is no one-size-fits-all solution for each problem you may be facing, it’s always good to take the following precautions:

– Setup your workaround measures while it’s working. I can’t stress it enough. Figure out how can censorship come to you (based on the articles I just wrote or based on other online resources), and set and test the appropriate workarounds,

– Test either of the following workarounds:

using some web proxy and endure the ads served by those web proxy service providers. Be careful though as some websites aren’t compatible with these implementations,

use some VPN services so as to send your traffic through a secure and encrypted connection when going out of your country. However, as the China experience pointed out the Chinese Government has also begun blocking some VPN implementations (PPTP and L2TP based). Anyway, SSTP and OpenVPN implementations seem to be working yet (until the port used will be blocked too)

Moreover, with the convergence of ICT technologies, it is now possible to use SMS for example to update Twitter, thereby not using the internet-way, other solutions are expected to go mainstream.

So how can you overcome such censorship? Tor can eventually be your savior.

If you need to use a proxy server, then you will want to know a little bit about how to choose the right one for your needs. There is more than one option when choosing which proxy to use, which is why it’s important to know the different types of proxies offered. I have done some research for you so that you can decide which one is best for you. Here is a list of the different options you can use when you choose a proxy.

High Anonymous

With this type of proxy, your IP will, of course, be hidden. Admin from other websites will also not be able to tell that you’re running through a proxy. This is a good route if you don’t want to give up your IP address to sites, but also want to keep your account with them. It will look like a real browser too.

Anonymous

This option also hides your IP address from everyone, but this one changes the request fields so it’s very easy to detect. They still won’t be able to get your IP address from it or anything but they may decide to ban you from the site because a lot of them don’t like that. It’s a risk using this type of proxy if you don’t want to run the risk of losing accounts.

Transparent

These proxies change the request field also so it’s easy to be detected and banned. This type of proxy transfers your IP though, so it’s a terrible option for security and privacy. It will only be useful for speeding up your network connection, and that’s about it.

If you’re looking for the safest route when choosing your proxy, then I would suggest going with a high anonymous type. They offer great privacy and security while surfing sites, and there is no way to give up your IP.

If you’re looking for a choose proxy list check our Hide IP Tools page.

To protect yourself you need to make sure you are using safe proxies, where the owner has you in mind and not himself. Learn about the proxy list Samair.ru.

What can you find on Samair?

With this website I found, you can search for almost anything to do with proxy and SOCKS lists. It has a feature so that you can search for all the newest and up to date proxy and SOCKS sites, this way you won’t have to worry about finding new sites that work.

Regular updates and fresh proxies

The site does this for you and it is updated every day. If you have already found a good proxy and you have the IP address then you can also punch it into the site and it will take you there. If you’re worried about the security of your computer and privacy you can complete searches which will give you information on the sites. Sam Air prides themselves on offering the best up to date security that they can possibly offer for all proxies.

What to choose?

If you need to use a proxy site then you will want to use this site to find out which one is safest and best fit for your computer. I personally use this site almost every day so that I can get to the sites I want too while in school. I also use the proxies they list when I want to have a more private connection to the internet. Sam Air offers this, and best of the entire site is all completely free to use. They maintain the site through ads which is a small price for us all to have to suffer. I suggest checking out the features on this site the need time you have a few minutes of free time.

Later edit: PhProxy Firefox Add-on is no longer available. You should check other hide IP tools. or the free VPN add-ons that work on Firefox 57+.

—-

Recently I found a very useful Firefox add-on that is able to change your IP address easily. The add-on is called PhProxy InBasic 3.0.3F and it’s produced by InBasic. Learn about the PhProxy Firefox add-on.

How does PhProxy Firefox add-on work?

The functioning principle is amazingly simple: the add-on re-directs your traffic through existing web proxies (not proxies, but web proxies), acting as a protective screen between you and the internet (as the authors say). The server downloads the page into its memory and then displays it to the user. The result is that only the server’s IP will be logged, and not the user’s.

Start using the PhProxy Firefox add-on

Here are the steps you need to perform to start using PhProxy:

Install PhProxy Firefox add-on from here. Just press Add to Firefox and follow the instructions

After the installation, you’ll see a small icon in the bottom-right corner of the Firefox window.

Now, type in the Address bar the URL you what to access anonymously. (Try, for example, XMyIP).

Go to the PhProxy icon and right-click to see the menu

Click Open current site by Phproxy and you’ll see that your IP was changed.Notice! See that in the front of the URL in the Address bar, a “PH:” was added. It is a sign that you are accessing the site using the add-on and your IP address is changed.

If you what to add your own proxies or make some advanced settings you should go to the Options window:

That’s it! You can now browse anonymously using a PhProxy add-on.

Important notices from the developer:

– Attention: If after installation, Proxy doesn’t work, use Options and setup new proxy!
– Attention: Default server is only for testing purpose so if you want a high-speed server to find some fresh ones.

What’s new on version 3.1.1A

Works with Firefox 3.0a1 – 3.1b3

The proxy server can be changed from status bar

Control over address bar-icon

Hotkeys for status-bar items

Some bugs were fixed

To sum up, PhProxy is a very useful plugin that hides your IP address by using web-based proxies. The new version lets you change the proxy server from the status bar which is a very nice feature. The biggest problem with the plugin comes exactly from its functioning principle: the speed depends on the proxies used.

Have you used PhProxy Firefox add-on? Did it work for you? Post a comment and share your experience!

Happy Surfing!

I know we just can’t figure out everything that our child can do on the Internet, as well as on all those different social networks. All the blog posts that I wrote on How-to-hide-ip supposed that the users of the VPN solution are adults. But when I stepped back a bit, I just realized that there’s no big barrier to entry for some teenage or kids to use the same things that we are talking about here. Learn about child VPN.

It’s easy to get a VPN

If we think about it: access to VPN services aren’t that difficult to get. For most of the VPN providers, you can get a one-month subscription and given that most subscriptions are around 10$/month. It won’t be difficult for a teenager to find a way to get someone to pay for it. Well, they already found a way to pay for illegal download website access, some even found ways to get a subscription to pornographic sites. So, why can’t they find a way to do the same for paying a child VPN subscription?

I know that this may seem a bit shocking to most parents, but the truth is: the most internet-savvy teenager has already found a way to pay for online subscriptions. But …

Why would a teenager try o get hold of a VPN subscription?

Indeed this is a great question. It’s not as if this is a ” forbidden” thing that they’ve been denied access to. But in fact, this can be a tricky question. Parents know that their kids are exposed to all kinds of threats and bad influences over the internet.

While parental control solutions have emerged, it’s always tricky to get continuous control over what your kids are doing on the internet. And given that, as a parent, you would want your kids to have access to common search engines like Google, parental control software won’t block them from finding solutions to overcoming your parental solution… And chances are that some of the solutions would eventually recommend using VPN or proxy sites.

I am not going to quote in this article the how-to and online resources that show how to do it. But, as I mentioned earlier, as long as you have access to Google (or any other way for finding information online, whether it is another search engine, social networks or online friends), then it won’t be difficult for you (nor for your kids) to find their way to knowing how to proceed for overcoming those parental control software via VPN of proxy services.

The bad thing …

Scary? Indeed, it is. I know that on How-to-hide-ip, we’re here to showcase you the good things that can be done with a VPN service, but as it is common with most technologies, it can also be used for other means. The bad thing is that you can’t find a good technology solution that is fool-proof enough so as to get that peace of mind.

The solution …

The solution here isn’t necessarily technological: you’ve got to take that parent hat again and deal it the old school way. But in order to do so, you’ve got to get a grip on how this child VPN or proxy thing is working. And for that, you can browse around how-to-hide-ip articles or even try one of the VPN solutions that we’ve covered here so that you get a good grasp of how things are working in the VPN field.

This is the result of a phone interview that “The American Assembly” recently published. Learn about other VPN figures.

On the other hand, the once called “The Pirate Bay” polled its users about their use of a hide IP service, and it showed up that 70% of the users are using a VPN or a proxy service(or are planning to do so). The interesting thing is that out of this 70%, 51% are still in the planning phase to use a VPN or proxy service while 4.8% are already using a paid service. From that same study that the Pirate Bay has done, 12% have reported that they aren’t even aware of those concepts of hiding IP, VPN or proxies.

How-to-hide-ip readers, please do us a favor, help those people a bit, redirect them to the multitude of articles that we’ve already written here, and if they are looking for a solution, you’ve got a lot of options that we have already covered here.

Why those VPN figures?

Well, it may be too obvious, but peer-to-peer file-sharing has always been considered as piracy. The concept of legal peer-to-peer is yet in its infancy age. On the other hand, there’s a lot of pressure and legal threats on those kinds of services nowadays that leads to users being more conscious about anonymizing themselves when surfing, and especially when launching any peer-to-peer services.

If we consider the US especially, with that SOPA bill, and other threats over internet users, people want to free themselves from the threat of being sued. As the discussion has moved to the legal matters, it all boils down to definitions: and without getting into the details, there will always be a risk that some legitimate use of the internet would be assimilated to piracy.

A growing market for VPN and proxy demand

I can see you thinking that this is great news for VPN and proxy vendors. Well, this ain’t false. The more the threat of being sued will be, the greater the demand for such services. The good thing, though, is that, here, at how-to-hide-ip, we’ve reviewed both paid and free solutions thereby leaving to you the decision to opt for one solution or another. Yes, the demand for anonymizing end-user internet connection will always grow – especially with all those legal threats to “control” the internet. There will always people who will be rebel enough, or who just don’t want to get into troubles.

As a closing note, let’s be clear once and for all, here, at how-to-hide-ip, we aren’t here to promote piracy, we’re here to talk about solutions that already exist for anonymizing your internet connection. As we started with figures, let’s end this article with another promising start: the report published by “the American Assembly” from Columbia University mentioned that “of the 30% of Americans who have “pirated” digital music files, 46% indicated they now do so less because of the emergence of low-cost legal streaming services. Among TV/movies pirates: 40%”.

What do you think of these VPN figures? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
