For bloggers, journalists and other people located in countries with government-imposed firewalls that block access to a variety of content, IPRental offers a unique solution.

What is IPRental?

Much easier to use than standard proxy services, IPRental users just download a program and then log in to the app (after they register and get a username and password) then hit Connect. You then get fast USA IP address which you can change as often as you like.

Getting banned on a forum is one of the most common problems you may encounter while using a forum. Learn how to remove the forum ban.

There are a variety of reasons you may get banned on a forum, but most of the time is because you have violated the forum rules. This is why you should consider the first option as a way to solving your problem.

Option 1: Apologies for your actions (Highly recommended)

Write a nice email to the forum admin(s). Humbly apologize for your actions which lead to you being banned. If this is your first to get banned from a forum you have good chances.

Option 2: Change your online identity

Step 1. Change your IP address. Try the options listed below. After each attempt check your email address. If it is different from your IP address then you can proceed to the next step.

• If your ISP uses DHCP (dynamic) IP address, try using ipconfig command.
  
• Again, if your ISP uses dynamic IP addresses, you can try to force an IP change by taking your modem offline (unplug power AND the internet cable) for at least a day.
  
• If your ISP uses static IP’s, you can call them and request a new IP.
  
• Another free solution is to use web proxies. You can check Proxy.org or Hide-Ip-Proxy.info for fresh proxies. You have to be careful to use a web proxy from your country, otherwise, you will look suspicious. This solution is not very good as most proxies do not allow for posting and do not allow you to register and log in.
  
• If the above solutions do not work you should choose a hide IP application. Most of them are very easy to use and change your IP address smoothly. You can find the best of them here.
  
• If you can afford them, VPN services solve your IP address smoothly. The setup is very easy and they anonymize all your browsers and applications. The only problem is that they are a little bit expensive. Check the following VPN list.

Step 2. Create a new email address or use a different email address that you have used for the banned account. You will need the email address to confirm your account.

Step 3. Change your screen name. Of course, you won’t be able to enter the same username as the one banned.

Step 4. For this step to have all the above already in place. Next, re-register at the forum.

Important!

You cannot link any of your previous information from your old account to your new account. Anything that can be used to link your old account and a new account will be used. If executed properly, these simple steps will prove successful to you.

Step 5. You are done. You should be able to be an active member of the forum again and remove the forum ban. Your future behavior will dictate whether you will be allowed to remain on the forum or not.

IP Changed, But Still Banned! Why Is That?

This is a common question. If you are using a DSL service, every time you turn on your computer your IP address is changed. But this does not mean that you are not still banned on eBay, on a forum or on-site you got banned before.

Why is that?

The answer is very simple: you are still on the same subnet. Meaning that your new IP address is not very different from the one that you got banned with. For example, you got banned with 123.123.123.1 and your new IP address is 123.123.123.2. Forums or sites like eBay don’t ban only the exact IP, but the entire subnet.

What should you do?

Firstly, you could change your ISP (Internet Service Provider), create a new account and make sure you set up all new account information and do not link any old account information.

Secondly, you can try changing your IP address. You can find a lot of articles on this blog on how to do it.

Check your visible IP address

Firstly, check your real IP address. You will see how websites see your IP address and how do they determine your location.

Find a proxy

Then you have to find a proxy (a new IP address to be shown when you visit websites). To do this you may subscribe to proxy service or go, for example, to SamAir List (also check our list of proxy sites) and choose a proxy from any country you want:

After you have chosen the proxy, you can start configuring your Internet Explorer to change your IP address.

Here are the steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools -> Internet Options:
   

   

3. Choose the Connections tab and press the LAN Settings button:

   

4. In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window, check to Use a proxy server for your LAN:
   

   

5. In the same window fill in the Address and the Port is taken from the above proxy list (e.g., 212.4.14.145: 80 where the IP address of the proxy is 212.4.14.145 and the port is 80):
   

   

6. Press Ok and then Ok again and you are done.

After the configuration is completed check your new IP address and you make sure it is different from the initial IP address. You can now browse anonymously.

Important! After you are done with your activities under hidden IP, do not forget to uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN. These proxies have a limited lifetime and usually slow down your internet connection. So use them only when you need!

VPN = Proxy alternative to change IP Internet Explorer

Most of the time the speed provided by proxies is quite low. Therefore, you may consider VPN services as an excellent alternative to change your IP using Internet Explorer. They are more expensive but also more reliable and faster. Also, there is a significant difference. Unlike proxies that are set up in the browser, VPNs change the IP for all applications running on the device (including other browsers, email clients, torrent clients, etc.).

How to manually hide your IP on Google Chrome

Let’s see now how we can manually configure this new browser to hide your IP address.

First, go to XMyIP.com and check your real IP address.

Then you have to find a proxy to be used as an intermediate between you and the sites you visit. For example, take one from here or search Google for “fresh proxies”.

After you have chosen the proxy you can start configuring the Chrome browser. Here are the steps you have to perform to hide IP Google Chrome:

1. Open Google Chrome

2. Go to Tools > Options…

3. Press Change proxy settings button.

4. Choose the Connections tab and press the LAN Settings button:

5. In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window, check the Use a proxy server for your LAN:

6. In the same window fill in the Address and the Port is taken from the proxy list (e.g. 66.118.187.76: 8080 where the IP address of the proxy is 66.118.187.76 and the port is 8080):

7. Press Ok and then Ok again and you are done.

8. After the configuration is completed go to XMyip.com and check your new IP address. You can now browse anonymously using Google Chrome.

Important! After you are done with your activities under hidden IP, do not forget to uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN. These proxies have a limited lifetime and usually slow down your internet connection. So use them only when you need to!

Guide to finding and configuring a proxy for Google Chrome

For those who use Google Chrome as their browser, then you may ask yourself: what type of Google Chrome proxy do I need?

What kind of proxies do you need to search for?

If you are a university user, chances are that the university IT folks would have given you the parameters to use.

Just wanted to mention that some website provides you with a “web-based proxy”. How does that kind of system work? You go to the web-based proxy website, then they usually have a form where you can put the URL of the website you want to go to. This can be convenient for circumventing some firewall policy rules that some IT network administrators may have set on your network, however, my experience has shown that some websites are not compatible with that kind of implementation.

So let’s stick to finding a proxy server that can be publicly used. Please bear in mind that using those kinds of public proxy usually gives you a slow connection – though it may not be suitable for bandwidth-consuming applications (videos for example). Moreover, be prepared to change your proxy server now and then as the list frequently changes. Anyway, if using a public proxy is the only way for you, then you can google for “public proxy”.

Update: There are hide IP solutions that work for all browsers, not only Chrome, and the setup is plug and play. Take, for example, OpenVPN VPN services that offer high security and good browsing speed.

Before you begin

Important:

• If you have a static IP address these options do not apply. You should call your ISP and ask them to change your IP address.
• Before trying to change your IP, always delete your browser cookies.

How to easily change your IP address

Here is how you can do this.

Option 1 (for dial-up connection): try a different access number

If you have a dial-up connection, try using a different access number. That will most probably change your IP address.

Option 2 (for cable/DSL connection): use IPCONFIG

For Cable/DSL (no router) internet connections, go to Start menu, type in cmd and hit Enter. Then type ipconfig /release and hit Enter. Further type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.

Option 3 (for cable/DSL connection): Obtain an IP address automatically

If #2 did not work and you are using Cable/DSL (no router), then you should try this: go to Start menu, type in cmd and hit Enter. Then type ipconfig /release and hit Enter.

Then right-click on your Local Area Connection and choose Properties. Double click on Internet Protocol TCP/IP. Click Use the following IP address and enter 123.123.123.123 for the IP and 255.0.0.0 for the subnet mask. Click OK, and then again OK. Go back to the previous dialog box and instead of Use the following IP address choose to Obtain an IP address automatically.

Option 4 (for routers): change the MAC address of the router

If you are using a router with your Cable/DSL connection, log in to the control panel of your router and change your MAC address by decreasing or increasing the last digit by 1. After you did that you should disconnect and reconnect using the control panel interface of the router. You will probably get a new IP address.

Option 5 (for routers): release IP address

If none of the above-suggested solutions worked, go to Start menu, type in cmd and hit Enter. Then type ipconfig /release and hit Enter. If you are using a router, log in to the router control panel and release the IP. Then, turn off your router, modem for several hours (for example, overnight).

Option 6: call ISP

If nothing has worked, call or email your ISP and tell them you experience some problems  with your current IP address and you need a new one. They will be able to change your IP address or guide you how to do it.

Option 7: use a hide IP software

If you need to change your IP frequently (e.g., every 10 minutes, or every hour) you should try to hide IP software like Invisible Browsing, IP Hider, etc. Here is the list of such software that we recommend. Also, I recommend you read the following post on how to rotate IP addresses.

Recently I found a very useful Firefox add-on that is able to change your IP address easily. The add-on is called PhProxy InBasic 3.0.3F and it’s produced by InBasic. Learn about the PhProxy Firefox add-on.

How does PhProxy Firefox add-on work?

The functioning principle is amazingly simple: the add-on re-directs your traffic through existing web proxies (not proxies, but web proxies), acting as a protective screen between you and the internet (as the authors say). The server downloads the page into its memory and then displays it to the user. The result is that only the server’s IP will be logged, and not the user’s.

Start using the PhProxy Firefox add-on

Here are the steps you need to perform to start using PhProxy:

1. Install PhProxy Firefox add-on from here. Just press Add to Firefox and follow the instructions
2. After the installation, you’ll see a small icon in the bottom-right corner of the Firefox window.
3. Now, type in the Address bar the URL you what to access anonymously. (Try, for example, XMyIP).
4. Go to the PhProxy icon and right-click to see the menu
   
5. Click Open current site by Phproxy and you’ll see that your IP was changed.Notice! See that in the front of the URL in the Address bar, a “PH:” was added. It is a sign that you are accessing the site using the add-on and your IP address is changed.
6. If you what to add your own proxies or make some advanced settings you should go to the Options window:
7. That’s it! You can now browse anonymously using a PhProxy add-on.

Important notices from the developer:

– Attention: If after installation, Proxy doesn’t work, use Options and setup new proxy!
– Attention: Default server is only for testing purpose so if you want a high-speed server to find some fresh ones.

To sum up, PhProxy is a very useful plugin that hides your IP address by using web-based proxies. The new version lets you change the proxy server from the status bar which is a very nice feature. The biggest problem with the plugin comes exactly from its functioning principle: the speed depends on the proxies used.
