Freedur is a new hide IP solution that is very simple to install and very effective. Based on privately own proxies, it offers high-speed anonymous browsing.

Here are several features that make the app special:

• Plug-n-play! – no advanced settings needed
• Faster than other proxies and VPNs – I have tested my self and indeed the speed is impressive (about 1,4 Mbps download speed)
• Supports both HTTP and HTTPS (SSL)
• 30 day 100% free trial – it offers a very generous trial period, much longer than similar hide IP tools
• Works for Firefox

How to use it

Step 1. Go to Freedur.com and Sign up for an account, I recommend you to sign up for a trial account first and after 30 days you can subscribe to the paid service.

Step 2. Download and install Freedur for your operating system. It is available for both Windows and Mac.

Step 3. Enter the email and password you have set up during sign up and log in.

Step 4. Turn it ON and you are ready to browse anonymously.

Advanced settings

The app can be enabled automatically in Internet Explorer and Firefox with just one button or using a Hot-key. This can be set up in Settings window:

With Freedur you can set up a list of sites that you wish to open without it (Site Filter tab) and also block ads while surfing (Ads Blocker).

Freedur 3.0 – Really Good Proxy/VPN for Windows, Mac, and Linux

Freedur has now reached version 3.0 and it is better than ever. Very simple to install and highly effective. Freedur 3.0 offers access to fast private proxies, plus access to L2TP VPN (still in beta).

Freedur 3.0 PROXY

If you need a solution for regular web surfing only (unblocking Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc), then the proxy application will do the job best. You may download the proxy application and install it easily from Freedur site.

Freedur 3.0 L2TP VPN

If you need a full VPN for your iPhone or Hulu, then you need to activate your VPN within the Freedur application -> Settings -> L2TP VPN.

Keep in mind that this feature is only in beta, so it is preferred to use the proxy. Also, do not run the Proxy and VPN at the same time as the proxy will overwrite the VPN and slow down your transfer speed.

Business Pro and Enterprise Packages

If you are in need of a hide IP/unblocking tool to be used within your company, Freedur 3.0 offers special packages with the following features:

• Simultaneous users/connections
• Dedicated servers
• Staff training
• Remote desktop support
• Telephone support

More information about Business Pro and Enterprise packages you can find here.

Windows, Mac and Linux Compatible

Freedur is really remarkable by the fact that offers versions for all major operating systems: Windows, Mac, Linux and it works for all browsers. Soon, iPhone and Android setups will be launched!

What do you think about Freedur?

Have you tried it? What do you think of it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Later edit: Freedur is no longer available and you should try other hide IP tools. The services that I use and recommend are HideMyAss, ibVPN, and PureVPN. Please let us know if you prefer other VPN or proxy providers.

Notice the keyword here: FREE.

Anyone knowledgeable about the Internet will know that it takes money to run a proxy server. So, if proxy servers can’t run without money, where does that money come from?  It has to come from somewhere.  There really is no such thing as “free”.  Alas, something happens when a person who is usually sane sees or hears the word “FREE”.   That one word, “FREE”, somehow turns off all brain function.  “FREE” is the classic lure that is thrown out to catch these usually sane people like they are flies in a spider web.

Free anonymous proxy with ads

Additionally, these free anonymous proxies use very persuasive print ads; brief, enlightening and enticing.

A sample of the opening paragraph taken from a site that claims to offer you access to anonymous proxies is as follows:

“An anonymous proxy allows you to bypass restrictions, browse blocked sites or simply browse privately and securely. If you browse the web through an anonymous proxy, no website can find your real IP address. They can not track you and you are safe, secure and anonymous on the web. Access blocked sites like MySpace, Facebook, Orkut and more.”

If you would like to gain access to sites that your school or employer has restricted, this sounds very compelling.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to somehow “fool” your employer into thinking you’re following policy when in fact, you’re not?

Then again, there are many other explanations as to why anonymous proxies are needed, the primary one being that you want your personal information protected.  Being able to access MySpace and Facebook without being discovered are bonus uses.  Now, let’s refer back to my first thought.  Running servers cost money.  Where is this money coming from?

As you are using the proxy, Google ads are posted on the pages.  These anonymous proxies earn cash mainly from these ads.

So far, so good, right?

Not really.  Sorry to say, some free web proxy sites contain ads that are flash-based and surfers are redirected to malware scan sites.  When this happens, the computer is “scanned” and malware is downloaded.  This is then hidden in folders on the hard drive.

Malware can take control of your computer, render your task manager inoperative, alter your registry, and take over your rights as an administrator.  Malware also can place hidden, self-writing, executable files on your hard drive.   These will cause you even more misery as they run in the background.

Free anonymous proxy access sounded so good, didn’t it?

This just goes to show you that the old saying “if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is” should be followed.

Use your head if you feel you must surf the internet anonymously.   Purchase software that will provide you with reliable, safe, and secure anonymous proxy services.  These services have no ads and give you layered security which includes data encryption, rotating IP addresses, which makes you sure that your personal information is protected.

Don’t be fooled by the Free Anonymous Proxy sites.

In life, there is one thing that is true: nothing is absolutely free.  Everything has a cost.  What you need to ask yourself is: “What cost will I be paying for FREE?”

We recommend looking at a paid proxy service such as LocaProxy.  Even though they offer a free trial, you know they hope you will be completely satisfied with their service so that you will continue with them long after the trial is over.  So, sign up for your free trial today!

Here are some of the features of private proxies:

• You can make sure that it is going to work for your specific needs before you buy.  The trial is the software used for all clients and has no advertising or bandwidth limits.
• The installation is very easy. It runs without difficult configurations.
• There are several server locations in the US and the Netherlands that you can choose from.
• Rotating and Static IPs are available for your use. You can choose a static IP that never changes or you can opt for the rotating IPs that change every 30 minutes on the hour and the 1/2 hour.

Why not sign up for their free trial?  Their goal is to convert you into a paying customer.  And who knows, maybe you will want to become one.
